The
plants integrated in the group perform in the 8 regions of the Russian
Federation covering Murmansk, Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk, Irkutsk, Kirov and
Kemerovo Regions, Komi Republic and Buryatia. The group is unique due to the
self-sufficiency of production of its main produce and is provided in excess
with the raw materials (bauxite). It owns the alumina production facilities,
primary aluminum and value-added aluminum products capacities. This
association of companies is unequalled in the Russian aluminum business. It
includes the plants, which cover all stages of aluminum production. This
production chain stipulates that the final produce of a number of plants in the
group is the raw material for the main produce of other plants. The
plants are licensed to develop Russia's
strategic bauxite mines and produce over 4.5 tons of this material annually
which covers 93% of the all-nation production. The group produces over 1.6 tons
of alumina, that is 60% of all Russian volume, which alumina is enough to
produce about 600,000 tons of primary aluminum (20% of the nation total).
Besides, the silicon plants produce approximately 45,000 tons of this material. OAO
SUAL-Holding aims to boost the efficiency of the plants in the group, to
formalize unique principles for the production, technology, investment, energy,
transport and social policies. The
management company was founded by the plants it integrates and does not hold
shares in such plants, which is a unique practice in the Russian corporate
governance. It is managed by a team of experienced professionals in the aluminum
and finance markets. They are to create a highly efficient aluminum company
which will base its activities on
the principles of economic feasibility, competitiveness and business priorities
of all the companies for which it is responsible. The
mission of the management company is the creation of a self-sufficient
vertically integrated aluminum company through balanced unification of the
